Check out this post keratoma surgery hoof restoration! This horse had a lot going on! She has had multiple abscesses for over a year, which wrecked the hoof over time. We used a Mustad Libero and modified it into a bar shoe. We removed a section of the shoe where the keratoma was removed so there wouldn’t be any pressure and it can be cleaned and treated easily. The hospital plate screws in with one bolt at the back and slides under the toe for convenience. Let me know what you think!
